I think that the highlight of the Olympic Games would have to be the gold medal hockey game, Canada vs. the U.S.A. The hockey game had very fierce competition. Canada had won the gold medal at Salt Lake City, in U.S.A. territory, and the U.S. team wanted to return the favor by winning the gold in Canada's Olympics. Both teams were determined to win that gold medal for their country, but only one team could have the bragging rights of winning the gold medal. Tons of people watched the game at bars, parties especially for the hockey game, and some lucky 19,300 people were fortunate enough to watch the game at the Canada Hockey Place. People sat on the edge of their seats as the U.S. team forced the game into overtime. When Sidney Crosby scored the 'Golden Goal' the whole country erupted with joy and relief, Canada had won the Men's Ice Hockey gold medal! Hockey is our game, and we won against our fiercest competitors, this is the highlight of the Vancouver 2010 Olympics for me and most likely the majority of Canada.

The highlight of the Games for me was watching both gold medal games for the men's and women's curling. This was the highlight for me because I've been curling for eight yers of my life and I just love the sport overall. I think both teams did really well espcially Cheryl Bernard for her first time in the Olympics. And of course, Kevin Martin who finally topped off his list of accomplishments with an Olympic gold medal. The most inspiring athlete to me was Joannie Rochette. Even after the terrible tragedy of losing her mother, she went out and competed in her event. She found the strength and courage to go out and do her best which earned her a hard worked bronze medal.

I found the Opening ceremonies most inspiring. They supported every country. This year was special because some First Nation tribes let us use their land. In the opening ceremonies they had a huge section devoted to the First Nations as a thank-you. They are also a very big part of Canada's history. I really liked how they did part of the ceremony in French. Canada has its francophone roots, so this was a very amazing tribute to the show! The most inspiring part of the ceremonies was when Georgia showed their presence after Nodar's death. They had a lot of courage to show up after this tragic event. To show their sadness of their loss, Georgia wore black arm bands. I really enjoyed the opening ceremonies because it truly showed what Canada has to offer!

I think that the most exciting highlight for me was the Canadian Men's Hockey Team winning gold. I think that this was amazing, because Canada didn't have too much of a chance when the United States tied the game, and then we scored an amazing and dramatic winning goal. For me the most inspiring athlete was Joannie Rochette, because although she lost her mother, she managed to still compete and win an amazing bronze medal.

The 2010 Winter Olympic games where AMAZING! Just being apart of something so big was so much fun! Vancouver and Whistler were the main areas of the events so I got to see and check out the main attractions, and they were extremely cool. Alexandre Bilodeau was a hero to all of the Canadian fans! It was so fantastic to see Alexandre win the first gold medal for Canada. Just the excitement everyone felt was like an adrenalin rush for all the fans! In the beginning of the Games, a Georgian athlete died on his training run on the Luge… It scared and made everyone (including fans and athletes) extremely nervous. We overcame the tragedy, and I think everyone is proud. It was extremely nice to give him a moment of silence. The Olympic Games were extremely cool. Just wait until 2014, I'll be cheering it on!

The highlight of the game for me was the way everyone participated and had a fun time. Though some people did not win a medal they were still very supportive and were a good sport. They were also very supportive of their own team members. The event that I found most inspiring is the last hockey game for the gold medal between the States and Canada. I thought that the game was very close and it was very intense as well. Everyone was on the edge of their seats waiting for the States to get the last goal but it ended up that Canada got the goal. It will be a Game that can never be forgotten, by us Canadians and the States.

The highlight was the hockey game between Canada and United States.I watched the whole game and I don't really like hockey but that game changed my perspective. I was cheering and my heart was beating every time Canada got near the United States net. That last 20 minutes my heart felt like it was going to explode. That last goal by Sidney Crosby was amazing, the whole game was. In the end Canada won and we also won the most gold medals. Good Job Canadians!

There were many great moments for Canada in Vancouver, but we think that the highlight of the Games had to be when the Canadian men's hockey team won gold in overtime against the U.S. We think this because who doesn't want to get back at the Americans for winning gold at the World Juniors? And even better, Sidney Crosby scored the winning goal in overtime. From then on that made history, I still have goosebumps from that, this was surely the best olympics yet.

The 2010 Olympics had amazing athletes and was overall a great experience even for those watching at home. However, to us the highlights of the Games were the Opening and Closing Ceremonies and the stunning figure skating performance by Joannie Rochette. We believe that the Ceremonies showcased te best of Canada and it's national pride. During the opening and closing Ceremonies we felt that teams were less seperated by nationality and were all brought together as a family. We believe that this is what the Olympics are all about and Canada did an amazing job. Go Canada! Joannie Rochette was trully inspiring for her abbillity to perform her routine aftrer the sad passing of her mother. She was truly amazing in her perseverance. Her mother would have been proud. In conclusion this is what we feel were the highlights of the games. We hope that there will be another Olympics held in Canada so that we may show our pride!

It didn't really matter what they got. At least they tried hard. The athlete that inspired me most was Joannie Rochette because her mother died from a heart attack while coming to see her in Vancouver and Joannie worked hard to get in the top three! The highlight of the Games for me was that Sidney Crosby scored in overtime for the gold medal game against the United States. I think that hockey is Canada's game and if the United States had won, it would have been such a big disappointment to all Canadians. Also if the United States had won they wouldn't be quiet about it and they would probably make another movie about it. I found that Alex Bilodeau was the most inspiring athlete to me because he won Canada's first ever gold on home soil since the 1976 Summer Games in Montreal and Calgary's 1988 Winter Games. Also I find it very inspirational of him to use his older brother who has cerebral palsy as an inspiration.

The highlight of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games was Canada's gold medal win in men's hockey. I enjoyed watching the Figure Skating. I was most inspired by Joannie Rochette's bronze win. I was feeling really bad for her but at the same time I was very happy for her. I felt bad because that was the very first skating competition that her mother was not there for her. Well my favorite part of the Olympics was when Alexandre Bilodeau won Canada's first gold medal on home soil in the freestyle ski competition. He was doing what he loves to do, he was having fun and was glad to be at the Olympics. He also made it possible for the other athletes to believe that it's possible to win. For me it meant that anything is possible if you just believe in yourself that you can do it. Also to never give up on something that you love to do and just to keep having fun with it.

Looking over every outstanding experience during the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver and Whistler was quite an experience. The highlight of these games to me were just to watch them in awe. It is so unbelievable to me that these athletes have this magnificent ability, to compete in this sport under the pressure of a Canadian audience. Every sport was so fascinating to watch. Overall, these games amazed be in every way, and the closing ceremonies highlighted our special and inspiring athletes, showing the talent under supreme pressure. Slovenian cross-country skier Petra Majdic showed awesome determination when competing in the 30 km Mass Start Classic. From the start of the race, Majdic had been suffering from an injury. During this time, she had unfortunately fell into a ditch at the side of the course. With great courage and determination Majdic got up and continued on with her race, despite the fact that this tumble had cause several ribs to break and her lung to be punctured. This act of persistence allowed her to receive a bronze medal in this event, including the Terry Fox Award, won by two athletes in these games. In conclusion, the 2010 Olympic Winter Games held inspiring athletes and intense events. What a success.

The highlight of the Games was definitely the fact that Canada won 26 medal, with 14 gold, and set a record for the most gold medals ever won on home soil. I was also very proud that Canada got to host the 2010 Winter Olympics, with our treasure of natural riches and our reliable nation. I'm sure every Canadian jumped when Sidney Crosby scored Canada the winning goal in hockey. Most people say that he was on 'thin ice' when he had not been doing well in the beginning of the Olympics, but proved everyone wrong and scored the winning goal. Many Canadians were very inspired by him, as well as being sorry for doubting him. But now the Games are over, you look back at what we went through to become as good as we are now. With the fatal accident of Nodar Kumaritashvili, and going through economic times, Canada ended with an extraordinary performance and now it's time to train even harder Canada. We will become stronger than we were last Olympics, this Olympics, or even yesterday.

Bringing unity between our planet, representing a sense of pride for our country, showcasing our most elite athlete's strengths and bravery, and lastly displaying each country's diversity and individuality for many events. Who wouldn't want to become a part of this historic mark? Not me! From the start point with the beautifully graceful opening ceremony, to the tension between the athletic events, and to even turning the channel to channel 5 to see what the American's think of our well developed team... But to me, the most memorable point was when Tessa Virtue (alongside Scott Moir) won Gold in the Ice Dancing sector. The reason I felt very proud to be a Canadian was because although she was born and raised in London, Ontario, she studied at the University of Windsor- Our home city! That is extremely exciting and memorable not only for Canadians but for citizens of my city, Windsor. Regardless of the fact that mother nature interfered at the beginning of the games, or of the small glitches at the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, Canada still did an incredible job. I have never felt more proud to be a Canadian, and being able to say that we won 14 gold medals on home soil is absolutely phenomenal. Go Canada Go! ★

The Olympics were amazing, from snowboarding to figure skating it was great! Sure it had a few downs but doesn't everything? The highlight of the Games for me was hockey. My dad, my brother and I were screaming at the television everytime the U.S. scored. As we sat there waiting to win, the United States scored that goal within the last 30 seconds. As the game continued so did our tension. In overtime we cheered as Crosby scored that final goal. I thought that Sidney Crosby was one of the most inspiring athletes for me. 7:40 into the overtime period he was passed to and scored the winning goal. After the game he quotes "It doesn't even feel real. It feels like a dream." I think that he was one of the most inspiring people to me because of what he said. He has fulfilled his dreams and even one of his quotes says "I don't think there's ever a time where I step back and say I wish I was something different. I'm doing what I love to do". That is why I think he was the most inspirational.

As for the 2010 winter Olympics it was a great pleasure to watch Canada's best athletes compete on our own turf, and succeed with many of the games. Any Canadian would be proud with the overall outcome. For me personally, the best part of the Vancouver 2010 Olympics was the Canadian athlete Joannie Rochette. Not only for her amazing talent, but also the courage she carries on her back. To perform such a beautiful show for figure skating just days after experiencing the death of her own mother. It was an emotional performance, that left many people moved after seeing her receive a bronze medal. Seeing Joannie’s father in the audience with an empty seat beside him made it that much more of a sombre occasion. I think the ultimate highlight in each of the Olympic games is just the comfort of watching the people of Earth unite in an event that billions tuned into to watch their country compete against others. Obviously, what’s better is watching the country we belong to win events, but overall, I think anyone should be happy to see people from all over the world come together. Oh and, Go Canada!

The best part of the Olympic Games in general was the fact that everyone had a chance to take part. Whether it was sitting at home to support your favourite sports event, being one of the 2500 volunteers, viewing the live action in the Olympic village or competing, each country had a chance to express their spirit. Each team was gracious to one another and were all ready to showcase what they have been working hard on in the friendly competition. In total over 2,500 athletes from over 80 countries got to come and visit the winter games in Vancouver and Whistler for 15 different sports! Canada may not have come in first overall, but we won a sense of pride and accomplishment with a total of 14 gold medals, an Olympic record. The "Own the Podium" fund was truly a huge success and should be continued in the future.

Reporting live from The 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics is Johnny McKnight! Johnny, what made the 2010 Winter Olympics stand out amongst all the others in your eyes? I would definitely have to start with The Olympic Flame covering a lot of ground. On only day 16 of its 106-day journey across Canada ― It has travelled 480 kilometres to be exact. And in its wake, it left some very special memories with people all across Canada. The 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics stand out amongst others because Canada went into the games with the "No gold on home soil curse." This time we changed it up a bit. One curse enters, no curse leaves. The highlight of the games from a Canadian's point of view is the amazing experiences, gold medals and memories that come with the Olympics and that will never leave. But it isn't just about Canada having set two records for most gold medals in one day or most gold medals at a winter Olympics, but it is about the pride we can have in our nation, and be flattered that the world chose to unite and compete on our soil. Something that inspired me was how Sidney Crosby had the dignity to beat his own team, seeing as he is the captain of the American Olympic Men's Hockey team with a final winning goal to amaze both the fans, and the competitors. These Olympics created memories that will last forever, and we can only hope that Canada does an even better job next year. Johnny McKnight, signing out.

Many people who I know will not be surprised by the olympic games highlight I chose..... HOCKEY!! I watched all the team Canada games especially the gold medal game. It was a real nail biter. They (Canada) were holding out 2-1 with 20 seconds left to go when boom, Parise on team America shoots and scores unfortunatly! I was heartbroken. Turns out Parise's dad was a team Canada hero! What a twist. But the game was not over. It was tied up 2-2 in overtime. Suddenly Jarome Iginla got a breakaway. He shoots, blocked by the american goalie Ryan Miller. The puck goes to the corner, Crosby goes to get it and gets hit, he moves to the front of the net. Jarome passes it to Crosby he shoots.... HE SCORES what a goal! It will go down in history as Crosby's golden goal for team Canada. The olympics are truely a place of miracles!

Olympics have their ups and downs. Everyone has their own opinion, but right now you're interested in mine. So here it is. The Olympics are cool, but the cost isn't. It was nice to see the Games like figure skating. That was my favorite part. Seeing those skaters dance around a frozen indoor pond. It was beautiful. Seeing them work so hard on each move, cool. They were all trying to be so perfect. Yet when the camera was on them there were no one shivering with fear, they all sucked it up. They looked past their mood, their pains and everything that was a bother and just made a magnificent show. The best skater I think was Canada's own Joannie Rochette for she got bronze even after the death of her mother. Two days later she puts the sad news aside just to skate, and she did a dazzling job winning herself a bronze. Hearing about that was sad, touching and amazing, a girl during the Olympics lost her mother yet she put that aside for a sport. But I guess when you love something enough you can put that first and forget about the sadness you've felt. And when she won that medal I bet she was thinking of her mother, I bet she'd be proud and amazed. This sport that I've never learned is the single sport I want to play. If I could play this sport of jumps, spins, twirls I'd never let go of this love for what I've seen at this 2010 Olympics. This sport stands out so much that now it becomes one of my dreams. The Olympians made me wish I were them, practicing this stunning, breathtaking sport.

The highlight of the games for me was when Alex Bilodeau won the first gold medal on Canadian soil. He wrapped the Canadian flag around his shoulders when he won. Everyone in Canada celebrated and we were one big family. I found moguls to be the one of the most exciting events because of the way they kept there knees together and did the two flips in the air and kept going. I found Alex inspiring, when I watched him on t.v. he spoke kindly about other athletes and about his family. He makes you want to be a better athlete and person.

In my opinion, the Opening Ceremony was one of the greatest in the whole history of the Olympic Games. Vancouver had a big jolt of liveliness, particularly in Yaletown and Downtown and most likely because of all the entertainments on the streets and in the pavillions. My favourite pavillion was the Coca-Cola Happy House, because there were motion sensor games, you could win a glow bottle, and you could watch a 3-D movie of Yaletown. Also, there were the best fireworks I have ever seen, every night in False Creek. Canada not only won the most gold medals at the 2010 Olympics, I think it also won the most gold medals in the whole history of the Winter Olympics. Despite some minor mishaps during the Olympics, the athletes pulled through and the best ones won medals.

The Olympics were a very memorable experience for me. The best part of it was all the entertainment going on all over Vancouver. It was super fun! My favorite sport to watch was the men's hockey finals. It was quite an action packed game with moments that had me extremely nervous. The men's hockey finals were the highlight of the Olympics for me because I love watching hockey, and it inspired me to realize that anything is possible and that with the amount of pressure on Canada's hockey team, they were still able to play with all the effort they put in to winning Canada's record breaking medal for a hosting country. They did so well, it was amazing for me to watch. My goal after watching that inspiring hockey game is probably to work harder and to continue on with what I believe in.

For me the highlight of the Games was the men's moguls event in which Alexandre Bilodeau won the first gold medal for Canada. This is partialy because I saw this event in person with my dad and because I was very touched when I saw him celebrate victory with his disabled brother. Alexandre became an inspiration for me and I am sure many others showing us that with hard work, great desire and a bit of luck dreams can come true.

The highlight of the Games for me was the women's figure skating. I was just amazed at how graceful they were on ice despite the pressure of the spectators' expectation. All were great but the one who really inspired me was Joannie Rochette. Even after the unfortunate loss of her mother, she was truly brave enough to skate in front of millions of spectators and win a bronze! I'm sure that her mother is very proud of her. Futhermore, the best perfomance that I think was the best was Kim Yu-Na. She was just like a dancing robot. She landed the jumps and completed her steps all very accurately and perfectly. Having this much skills, she is worthy enough to win gold. All of the skaters were very talented and it was unfortunate that the judges wouldn't give medals to each of them. In conclusion, this was my highlight for the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.

I really enjoyed watching the Opening Ceremonies and actually all of the games as well. I love Patrick Chan and Sydney Crosby so those were definitely two of my highlights. I also really enjoyed watching the snowboarding,I thought it was easy but after I watched them do the half pipe I was in awe. So I went to Mission Ridge and tried it out... I am now considered a safety hazard to their community! I also loved the history of the Olympics. One of my favorite places is Greece. I can't say I've actually watched the Olympics before this year, it was really exciting and I enjoyed it very much!

The 21st Olympic Games were “GREAT” Games for Canada. The highlight of the Olympic Games for me was winning our first gold on Canadian soil because many doubted that we could come out and win a gold. Another part of the Olympics that I enjoyed was the determination of all the Canadian athletes and the support and cheers that came out from young and old Canadians across the country. The Olympics brought many families together so that they could cheer on the athletes. I think that all the athletes did a wonderful job even if they did not get to the podium. They contributed well to the Games. All Canadians should be proud. Despite beginning with a terrible tragedy, and starting out with performance disappointments, the overall feeling of Canadians was overwhelming pride for the Games.

To my surprise, the Olympics were very enjoyable this year. At first, I thought curling was really boring to watch but I would always build up a large amount of tension when Canada was playing. I constantly had to remind myself to breathe when I realized I was holding my breath! It was absolutely fun to watch and now I won't be so negative to the idea of watching curling anymore. When I was watching all the skaters skate, I was fascinated. It made me miss my skating lessons because all the skaters were so graceful when they did their thing. I never really paid attention to the Games when I was younger but when I had the chance to watch it a few weeks ago, I loved it! It's just too bad I never had the chance to go downtown or to any of the events.

The highlight of the Games for me was the men`s gold medal game between U.S.A.and Canada. This game for me was one of the best games I had ever seen. Bragging rights were at stake. Some of the best players, in the world, were about to clash to see who was better: Canada or U.S.A. The game was filled with chances for Team Canada, but goalie Ryan Miller, of U.S.A , always kept the game close. When Canada was winning, everybody thought Canada would easily win, so when Zach Parise scored the game-tying goal, everybody was shocked. Would Canada lose the gold medal? When Sidney Crosby scored the winning goal in front of 19,300 fans, all the Canadians felt great. I found Sidney Crosby as the person who inspired me the most. This is because without him who knows what would have happened. He also saved Team Canada against Switzerland. I find him the most inspirational person in te 2010 Olympic Games.

One of my Olympic highlights was the Men's Hockey Game: Canada vs. United States. There was lots of apprehension throughout the whole electrifying playoff. I'm sure I'm not the only one who was standing up and cheering/screaming for our team. And in the end Canada did our country proud by taking home a gold medal to add to our already record breaking gold medal count. In the end of the 2010 Games, even though we didn't win, I think Canada did very well considering the odds against the United States.

During the 2010 Winter Olympics, I found one athlete very inspiring. Although she did not win gold, I believe that she brought a whole new meaning to these Games. This strong woman is Joannie Rochette. She unfortunately experienced an awful situation during the Games. Even after her mother passed away, she kept going. I think that the reason why her winning bronze was a highlight is because she taught us all a lesson. No matter what comes your way, you have to keep going. She showed determination even after the devastation of losing a loved one. I admire her for her courage and bravery. She has showed everyone that when someone is gone, you can't give up. The people you love would not want you to pass up an opportunity to mourn over their loss. When Ms. Rochette performed it really touched my heart. I know what it's like to miss someone who is gone. She gave me hope. A family member of mine passed away, he never had the chance to watch me play sports. Joannie gave me hope. I now know that no matter where I am, he is always watching me. Joannie taught the world that when all seems lost, don't give up.

The Games were ultimately exciting and inspiring for every person watching them, but the highlight of the Games varies drastically for multitudes of people. Watching wins, losses and determined fights, the athletes inspired many. When determining the most inspiring event I had seen during the Games, it all came down to an emotional performance by Joannie Rochette. With the sudden loss of her mother, spectators could not imagine the pain and suffering that brought her to deliver such a heart wrenching act. All the tricks, turns and graceful gestures created a eventful and fulfilling performance that captivated not only myself but the world. I feel that this will not only inspire many viewers but inspire others to cope with losses and deliver everything to the best of your true abilities.

After watching the incredible performances by athletes from all over the world, I finally came to a conclusion of what it's all about. It about forgetting the differences between all the nations, and combining everyone's talents and strengths together, to make a team. They have fun, and disregard the fact that it doesn't matter if you win or lose, as you work to the best of your ability and take in the unique and special opportunity you've been given. Resulting from this fact, we believe that the final Canadian against American hockey game brought on the most thrill and excitement for not only people of these nations, but for everyone who enjoys this event. Thanks to Sidney Crosby for making all Canadians active from jumping out of their seats when scoring the final goal. He showed true Canadian pride, and really inspired thousands of people and young hockey players, who look up to him as a role model. For all you hockey fans out there who watched this magical event, you know it's going to go down in history, and be remembered for years to come!

I enjoyed watching the Olympics so much. I think that all of the 2010 Olympics was good but the highlight of the Games for me was the hockey game, Canada vs. U.S.A. It was exciting right through to the end and finished off with Canada winning! That was also Canada's last medal in the Olympics. Figure skater, Joannie Rochette, inspired me the most. After her mom died she still did her figure skating performance and did really well. From her I learned that even if something bad happens you still keep going. When Alex Bilodeau won Canada's first gold medal, it was pretty exciting. In 1976 and 1988 when the Winter Olympics were held in Canada no athletes from Canada won one gold medal. Our goal was to win more medals than any other country but sadly, we didn't.Still we did win 14 gold medals which was the most compared to the other countries. I found Alex Bilodeau the most inspiring because he is inspired by his 27 year old disabled brother, Frederic. They really support each other.Alex even proclaimed that growing up with a disabled person puts everything back in perspective and that Frederic taught him so many things in life.

I think that the highlight of the Games for me was that lots of althletes tried their best to win or even get in the top three. I loved watching all of the different sports being played. What really caught my attention was the ice dancing and the hockey. One week before the Olympics at my skating club, Vanessa Crone and Paul Poirier, two ice dancers, came to show us what they were going to do in the figure skating competition. What was sad is that they didn't come in the top three. I just liked that they tried their best. Also, when Sidney Crosby scored the winning goal, Canadians went crazy!!! It was an amazing shot, and it was very inspiring to everyone. The Olympics were great. I loved watching it. Especially because it took place in British Columbia, Canada.

Aside from the fact that the Olympics were being hosted on home soil, and what an honour that was, there were many things that happened during this event that made it both memorable and special. For one, although I could not be in Vancouver to support the athletes in person, I wore my red mittens with pride, doing my part in "Own the Podium". For myself, although I enjoyed watching most of the sports the Olympics held, the most interesting thing for me to watch was the final hockey game. It had everyone on the edge of their seat, and the final goal couldn't have been better! As for the most inprirational part, I enjoyed watching both the Opening and Closing ceromonies. It was nice to see different countries coming together! Overall, watching the Olympics is something that I will never forget. I can't wait for 2014! GO CANADA!!!

It is my opinion that if you weren't watching that game, you aren't truly Canadian. I think that Joannie Rochette's skating performance for the gold medal was the most touching and inspiring event because even after the struggle she went through losing her mother, her skating technique was impeccable, and there was not a dry eye in the arena. She truly skated with her soul, and it set her apart from any other athelete in the Games this year.

I think Vancouver expressed our culture in very unique and different ways that welcomed other countries into ours. They had creative ways to make it interesting and exciting. For example, the dancing and the aboriginal people really made it amazing. I think that the snowboarding was fun to watch because it was inspiring for people to go out and try something new. There are many different words to describe these amazing fun filled and exciting Games in Vancouver 2010 but I struggle to find the perfect word to describe the Games. When the first few days didn't turn out properly I wondered if these games would be postponed. I really dreaded that... but then the next days the snow started falling, the conditions were nice, and unfortunately the sun said goodbye. It was amazing how the Games turned out with Canada winning more gold than any country in the history of the winter Olympics! When Alex Bilodeau came zooming down that 820ft. mogul run I was jumping up and down like a fool in front of the tv screaming my encouragement. It must have been hard for Alex to grow up with a disabled brother but I was shocked when I heard Alex had given up his love for hockey just to ski and spend time with his brother. He must have felt great when he saw his brother cheering him on in the stands. Alex inspired me and saying his brother was his inspiration I realized that it is important for a family to be supportive and believing when it comes to competitions like Alex's.

When I first heard that we would be hosting the 2010 Winter Olympics, I was so excited!! I couldn't wait to see how Vancouver would greet the Olympics. With all that hard work, it's hard to believe that they were over in a few weeks. There were many inspiring things that happened during the Olympics, but I would have to say that the most inspiring was that Joannie Rochette kept on competing even though her mother died. When I first heard that her mother died, I thought that she was going to withdrawfrom the competition. I was surprised when she announced that she was going to continue competiting in honor of her mother. After some thought, I decided that it was extremely brave of her to continue skating in the competition. She must have truly love her mother, for when she skated, you could really tell that she skated with her heart.I believe that she truly deserved to become one of 5 Canadian women to win a medal in the ladies skating. So that is why Joannie Rochette was the highlight for me during the 2010 Olympics.

But my favorite part of the Olympics was the hockey! The hockey players were great out there! The most inspiring athlete for me, was Jonathon Teows. He won the most valuable forward, along with Pavel Dmitra. All the games I watched he played hard and never gave up; that was really inspiring for me, being a hockey player. Also my highlight of the Olympics was when Sidney Crosby scored the tournament winner in overtime against USA. When he scored I jumped about 5 feet in the air. Vancouver 2010 Olympics were amazing! I watched almost every single event! One of my favorite moments was when Alexandre Bilodeau won the 1st gold medal won by a Canadian on Canadian soil, for freestyle moguls. I am also a freestyle skier and I realize how hard the things they do are! Skiing down the moguls in 30 seconds is hard in itself but with cork 720 after makes it 10,000 times harder! The time and effort these skiers put into their sports is tremendous. One little mistake in freestyle moguls throws off your whole run, plus if you mess up on one of the moguls there is no turning back, your results are down the drain. One of the best moments after Alex's run was when he figured out he won gold. He was not like some of the other athletes that show off after they win, he simply was just happy. Now I'm not saying he didn't get excited but he didn't rub it in the other athletes faces. Also the thing that is cool about him is that his brother has cerebral palsy, who he hugged after he won. The faces on the athletes after they win is one of my favorite things too. The look of pure excitement! There is nothing better! All in all the Vancouver Olympics were a success in my eyes and these Games made me proud to say that I am Canadian.

The Olympic Winter Games were an amazing event for Canada. They brought countries from around the world here, so we could show off our country and its amazing talent. The highlight of the Games for me was the Closing Ceremony. It was funny how Canadians were willing to poke fun at themselves by putting on a show of all the stereotypes people have towards Canadians. We also did that with the help of numerous comedians, who made speeches about being Canadian. The performances were excellent. Michael Buble, Hedley, Nickelback, Avril Lavingne, Nikki Yanofsky, Derek Miller, Eva Avila, Alanis Morissette, Simple Plan, and Marie-Mai performed, showing off Canada's talent musically. They all did a fantastic job. The Closing Ceremony showed off Canada to the world, and made us proud. The athlete I found most inspiring was Joannie Rochette. Her mother died just days before her competition, and she still went out, and competed to the best of her ability. She showed incredible courage in a difficult time. That inspired me, and taught me that even when times are tough, giving up won't do you any good. Joannie Rochette would have made her mother proud because she certainly made all of Canada just that.

Everyday there was at least one highlight at the Olympics. It is incredibly hard to pick just one. The men's gold medal hockey game had to be one of the greatest games to watch.
