On April 28, Canada went to the polls. It was a tight race.

The Liberals won the election with 169 seats in the House of Commons. This victory gives the Grits a rare fourth term in power and the party’s third consecutive minority government. It also ensures Mark Carney, named prime minister just five weeks earlier, will keep his job.

The Conservatives, headed by Pierre Poilievre, came in a close second with 143 seats. The Tories will form the official opposition.
