Wildfires have been raging across Canada this spring. They have been fiercest in Manitoba and Saskatchewan. By the end of May, both provinces declared states of emergency.

More than 20,000 people have been evacuated from these two provinces. Many have lost their homes. Two Manitobans have lost their lives.

“The news of this loss of life changes what was an emergency into a tragedy,” said Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew.
