On October 17, tragedy struck at Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Wainwright in Alberta. A major fire broke out during a live ammunition training exercise. Sergeant Morgan Wong and Privates Shaun Farrell, Aidan Goulding, and Hayden Lykkemark lost their lives. Another 39 soldiers were injured, some severely.

“This loss touches every corner of our nation,” said the prime minister. The country grieves alongside the families of the victims.
