Climber Maureen Beck.

Maureen “Mo” Beck can’t turn down a challenge. The 36-year-old American discovered a passion for rock-climbing at age 12, when a camp counsellor suggested she sit out the activity. Why? Mo was born without a left hand.

Today, she’s done something most climbers couldn’t do with both hands. She summited the 600-meters Lotus Flower Tower. This sheer rock face, located in the Northwest Territories’ Cirque of the Unclimbables, is one of North America’s toughest climbs.
