The best women’s hockey players in the world are lacing up their skates for a new pro hockey league. The Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) was launched in August, with teams based in Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, Boston, New York, and Minneapolis-St. Paul. The league is so new that none of the six franchises have names or logos yet!

Picking teams

The teams have, however, already chosen their players. Each franchise was allowed to sign three superstars. Then, on September 18, the league held the first draft in the history of women’s hockey.
